About

After more than 20 years managing clinical research within the biotech industry and academia, Amelia founded Luminance Clinical Research in March of 2016. 

She received a bachelor's degree from Stanford University with a double major in Human Biology and Psychology. After graduating, she coordinated studies for the Stanford Department of Neurology until becoming a clinical research associate (CRA) for a San Francisco Bay Area biotech start-up during the dotcom boom. While working and traveling as a CRA for NTERO and then VISX, she earned a professional certificate from UC Santa Cruz in Clinical Trial Design and Management. In 2001, she earned professional certification from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).

 Given her strong work ethic, ability to quickly develop expertise, dedication to quality and strategic planning, Amelia increased her responsibilities quickly, eventually directing strategy and operations. Amelia co-authored several publications and was an invited speaker at industry conferences. 

Prior leadership positions include Clinical Program Manager for the Acute Ischemic Stroke Franchise at Stryker Neurovascular and Head of Refractive Clinical Research at Abbott Medical Optics. She is thankful for her career accomplishments including clear BIMO audits and numerous successful studies leading to regulatory approvals. Amelia was responsible for an industry shaking de novo 510(k) and landmark IDE study leading to expanded indications and revised American Medical Association (AMA) guidelines. 

Her most prized award is the Stryker Neurovascular Global MVP Award for Leadership. Training and mentoring the best of the next generation of clinical research professionals is her greatest achievement.
